Omphalos: Angkor Wat and the Centre of the Universe

Want the world to revolve around you, but aren’t sure how to make it happen?

Why not head to the Angkor Wat complex in Siem Reap, Cambodia?

Once there, go straight to the 5-towered main temple, (also called Angkor Wat.)

As a physical manifestation of the Buddhist holy mountain, Mount Meru, Angkor symbolises a celestial pole joining heaven and Earth AND the centre of the universe.

Helpfully, the exact point of this ancient omphalos is marked by a smooth circle of stone in the floor that’s big enough to step inside.

You can even bring some friends!
